MATSim is currently a joint effort by the following groups:

• Transport Systems Planning and Transport Telematics at the Institute for Land and Sea Transport Systems, Technische Universität Berlin, led by Prof. Dr. Kai Nagel
• Transport Planning at the Institute for Transport Planning and Systems (IVT), Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, led by Prof. Dr. Kay W. Axhausen

In addition, we stay in close contact to other research groups using MATSim, for example in Toronto (Canada) and Pretoria (South Africa). Also, some former phd and research students are now working in a private company in Switzerland where they continue to support the development of MATSim.

The MATSim Group in Fall 2008 in Front of Villa Garbald, were multiple seminars took place.
